Lander is located in the heart of Wyoming, in the foothills of the Wind River Mountains. The amazing access to wild places and generally sunny weather has drawn outdoorsy types for decades.  NOLS (the National Outdoor Leadership School) is headquartered here, and many climbers, mountain bikers, trail runners, nordic skiiers, fly fishermen, etc, have decided to call Lander home.

Of course Wyoming is one of the most wild, sparsely populated states in the nation, so you'll also find hunters, ranchers, and cowpokes still thriving here as well.  One of our neighbors here on Ridge Road was named Cowboy of the Year last year.

The local community is active and friendly, with a surprising number of good restaurants, bakeries and coffee shops for a town of less than 8,000 people.  What Lander lacks in convienence, being located 2 hours from the nearest interstate, it makes up for in community.  We personally know the guy who bakes our bread, the gal who roasts our coffee, the farmer supplying our favorite produce stand at the farmer's market, and the rancher who raised our beef.  It's a lovely way of life!
